The pagoda was about 80% complete after the weekend of August 14. We did Pagoda II this past weekend and are now about 95% complete. JD and Adam bolt the spire to the top. You can see JZIII peeking around the post, too.

Well,

with much thanks due to me friends and family, we made it up all 50 steps and the fourth floor.  All that is left is the railings and roof.

Me and my dad at the top of the pagoda

I will post more pics.

Here is one more from far away.

This is an early morning view of the pagoda rising from the hilltop. This was from Sunday morning. We did get all fifty steps in, but not quite done!

How to get to the Pagoda Party August 12, 2010

Circle Z Ranch is in Healdsburg, California in Sonoma County.  The street address is 8950 Mill Creek Road.   Here is a link to google maps.  It is far.  It takes me about two hours to get there from San Francisco.

The directions in Google Maps will get you to the mailbox, which is with a bunch of mailboxes at the end of a dirt driveway.  There are many properties down the dirt road and we share the driveway.

The ranch, and the party, is about 6 miles down that dirt road.  Over that dirt road you will drive through streams about 9 times.  At the deepest crossing, the water is still 12-16 inches deep.  The  road also has two locked gates, so even if you have a Hummer, you won’t get through without the keys.  It takes about 20 minutes to go these 6 miles.

So, I have arranged for a very nice young man, Isaac Saarman, who will be driving a very comfortable truck which takes six passengers, plus the driver, Isaac is going to  shuttle people back and forth beginning at 2PM.  If you have a car that can make the trip, you are welcome to follow Isaac in as he unlocks the gates and shows you the way.

It would be best if people could say about when they might show up, so that everybody does not all show up at 2PM.  So we should try and spread out a little.  If you would like to arrive at the mailbox earlier, let me know and we will make arrangements.

The weather and what to wear at Circle Z August 12, 2010

It has been great weather lately. In the morning it is about 50 degrees and there are often low clouds. The clouds burn off by 8 or 9am and it is sunny. The sun is strong. It has been warming up gradually to about 80. Sunscreen is a necessity (but, I have some if you don’t).

You can wear shorts in the day time, but after the sun goes down it gets cold. Also, around sunset there may be a few bugs. So, a sweatshirt or light jacket is also a good idea.

It is dusty at Circle Z. Your clothes will get dusty. Your shoes will be dirty. Come prepared with stuff that you don’t mind if it gets a little dusty.
